One of the Sage Group’s clients is looking for a successful Senior Social Media Lead to work directly with the executive team to build and scale an authentic, human and insightful personal brand across social media. Client is a file hosting service headquartered in San Francisco, California, that offers cloud storage, file synchronization, personal cloud, and client software.
Role Description:
We’re looking for a Senior Social Media Lead to partner directly with a high-visibility tech founder/CEO to build and scale an authentic, human and insightful personal brand across social media. This is not a corporate comms role. You’ll be shaping a voice that is real, reflective, customer-focused and tied to the evolution of our product and industry. In this role, you’ll lead strategy, execution and experimentation — turning ideas, moments, customer conversations and product vision into compelling, high-quality content that builds real connection with an audience of builders, users and future customers.
Responsibilities:
-
Social Strategy & Editorial Direction
- Build and execute a social media strategy aligned with the founder’s values, tone, and audience (primarily LinkedIn and X/Twitter).
- Set a consistent publishing cadence for both thought leadership and lightweight behind-the-scenes storytelling.
- Create frameworks for when/how the founder should engage directly vs. proxy/ghostwritten content.
-
Content Creation & Curation
- Draft and/or edit short-form posts, threads, and occasional longform pieces.
- Source raw ideas from the founder, team, and customers—turning them into polished narratives.
- Collaborate with content and photo/video resources to ensure posts feel human and native to platform.
-
Audience Engagement & Feedback Loops
- Develop a system to monitor feedback and engagement trends, and inform the founder’s POV accordingly.
- Identify opportunities for real-time response, reply threads, or resharing user/customer content.
-
Collaboration & Growth
- Work with internal stakeholders to spotlight milestones, customer wins, experiments, or public-facing product thinking—without sounding corporate.
- Lead lightweight performance analysis and experimentation (what content performs well and why).
- Stay attuned to the evolving social landscape, proposing new approaches or channels when relevant.
- Collaborate closely with corporate comms and corporate social media team to ensure consistency, brand alignment, and calendar/opportunity coordination
Requirements:
-
6–10 years of experience leadership in social media, comms, or editorial strategy
-
Stable, proven, relevant experience to show successful results in B2B tech
-
Experience working closely with founders/ceos
-
Exceptional writing and editing skills—especially for voice-driven, opinionated content.
-
Deep understanding of the tech and startup ecosystem (and the culture of founder social presence).
- Comfort navigating ambiguity, with high editorial judgment and low ego.
- Creative sensibility and a strong feel for tone, timing, and visual narrative.
- Experience working cross-functionally with content creators, designers, communications/marketing teams and photographers.
-
Experience in a high-growth tech company or startup
-
Background in executive communications, social media, marketing, PR or journalism
-
Knowledge of social performance tools (i.e. Sprout, Sprinklr, Brandwatch, etc.) and creative tools (i.e. Canva, Adobe, etc.)
-
Experience leading or managing a small team and agency partners
