Job description

Social Media & Content Marketing Contractor
Up to 20 Hours per Week – Flexible Schedule

The Sage Group’s client, who operates at the intersection of cyber innovation, national security, and technology-driven transformation, is seeking a Social Media & Content Marketing Contractor to support our social media presence and serve as a broader content resource for the team. This role is social-media-first — you’ll act as the quarterback for our channels, calendar, and voice — but the right candidate is also a strong, versatile writer who can write content across the business, from landing pages to blog posts.
We need someone who is equally comfortable planning and publishing day-to-day social content and writing longer-form copy for the web. Strong writing skills and project management skills are a must. Light creative or design skills (experience with Canva) are a plus for building simple graphics and social assets.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Social media management: Plan, schedule, and publish content across Merlin’s social channels (LinkedIn)

  • Content strategy & calendar: Build and maintain a social content calendar aligned with brand and business priorities

  • Copywriting: Write clear, on-brand copy across formats — social posts, landing pages, email, and other marketing materials

  • Blogs & thought leadership: Write and edit blog posts and other long-form content

  • Web & landing pages: Own copy for landing pages and other web content, keeping messaging current and consistent

  • Create simple graphics and social assets using Canva, utilizing pre-built template

  • Track social performance and adjust content strategy based on engagement and results

  • Own projects from concept through final delivery, working directly with the Director of Communications

Qualifications

  • Strong writing and copywriting skills, with samples or a portfolio demonstrating range across social, web, and long-form content

  • Experience managing social media channels and content calendars for a B2B brand

  • Ability to work independently and own projects from planning through publish

  • Sharp eye for brand voice, tone, and consistency across channels and formats

  • Comfortable juggling multiple content types and priorities at once

  • Background in cybersecurity, technology, or other B2B industries

  • Expertise in copywriting across all content types

  • Fluent use and understanding of social media analytics, including Sprout or other similar tool for social media scheduling and reporting

This is contract work, up to 20 hours per week, with a flexible schedule.
Eastern time zone preferred; DC area is a plus but not required.
