Outside Sales – AL (28083) – SAGE
Join a fast-growing technology company in the on-demand logistics and delivery industry as an Outside Sales professional supporting expansion across emerging markets in Alabama. This freelance role focuses on acquiring new restaurant and small business partners through a high-velocity, face-to-face sales motion.
As an Outside Sales representative, you will own the full local sales cycle—from prospecting and outreach to in-person meetings and closing. You will focus on rural and underpenetrated markets surrounding Birmingham, AL, helping small- and medium-sized businesses access a leading delivery and marketplace platform that can drive incremental demand and revenue.
This is a field-based position that requires significant travel within your territory. You’ll collaborate closely with a Regional Sales Manager and cross-functional teams while maintaining a high level of autonomy in how you plan your days, manage your pipeline, and hit your goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify, prospect, and qualify new restaurant and SMB opportunities in Birmingham, AL and surrounding rural/emerging markets.
- Conduct in-person meetings with owners and decision-makers to present the platform’s value proposition, features, and partnership options.
- Own a fast-paced, transactional sales cycle, with a strong focus on short time-to-close and consistent deal volume.
- Negotiate commercial terms within defined guidelines to create mutually beneficial partnerships.
- Plan and execute regular travel within your assigned territory, including day trips and periodic overnight stays, to maximize in-field prospect coverage.
- Use sales tools and CRM systems to track outreach, manage your pipeline, record visit outcomes, and forecast expected results.
- Collaborate with a Regional Sales Manager to refine messaging, share territory insights, and iterate on sales playbooks for emerging markets.
- Stay informed on local market dynamics, competitive offerings, and restaurant industry trends to tailor your pitch and positioning.
- Represent the brand professionally in all interactions, maintaining high standards of communication, integrity, and follow-through.

Compensation

Base Pay: $29 per hour, supplemented by a commission structure based on new partner acquisitions.

Commission: Performance-based commissions for every new business partnership; On Target Earnings for commissions are approximately $1,750 per month, with uncapped upside based on results.
Travel Expectations
- At least 50% travel within your territory and to nearby emerging markets.
- Majority of travel within a roughly 2-hour drive of Birmingham, with some longer drive days and occasional overnight stays as needed.
- Approved travel expenses are covered and must comply with company travel and expense policies.
What We’re Looking For
- 2+ years of successful sales experience, ideally in a closing role selling to SMBs; experience with restaurants or the food & beverage sector is a strong plus.
- Comfort working primarily in the field, with frequent in-person meetings and regular travel.
- Proven ability to succeed in a fast-paced, high-activity, transactional sales environment.
- Experience using a mix of inside and outside sales tactics to source leads, nurture relationships, and close deals.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a willingness to test new approaches, iterate, and help shape scalable processes for new markets.
- Strong self-management skills: organized, disciplined, and able to operate with limited day-to-day supervision.
Basic Requirements
- Residence within 40 minutes of Birmingham, AL.
- Ability and willingness to travel at least 50% of the time, including some overnight trips.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Availability to work the full assignment period from 3/31/26 to 7/3/26.
