Outside Sales Representative

We are a fast-growing technology company in the on-demand logistics and delivery industry seeking an experienced Outside Sales Professional to join our team in the Jackson, MS area. This is a freelance role focused on building our merchant network by signing new restaurant and food-service partners, with particular emphasis on small- and medium-sized businesses in emerging and rural markets.

As an Outside Sales representative, you will own the full sales cycle from prospecting through close. You will spend most of your time in the field meeting with local business owners, demonstrating the value of our platform, and driving rapid deal execution. This role is ideal for a self-motivated closer who thrives in a fast-paced, highly transactional environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify, prospect, and qualify independent and regional restaurant and food-service businesses within your assigned territory.
  • Conduct face-to-face meetings with owners and decision makers to present our platform and partnership opportunities.
  • Manage a short, transactional sales cycle, moving prospects from initial contact to signed agreement in days rather than months.
  • Understand merchant needs and clearly communicate how our solutions drive incremental orders, revenue growth, and customer reach.
  • Negotiate partnership terms that balance merchant success and company objectives.
  • Maintain a robust pipeline, consistently meeting or exceeding weekly and monthly activity and closing targets.
  • Leverage sales tools, marketing collateral, and on-the-ground research to optimize outreach and conversion rates.
  • Track all activities, opportunities, and deal stages in the company’s CRM and reporting tools with high accuracy.
  • Collaborate with sales leadership to refine territory strategy, share market feedback, and identify high-potential segments.
  • Represent the brand professionally in the community, building strong relationships and a positive local presence.

  • Travel: Frequent in-territory travel with periodic longer drives or overnight stays as needed to cover the market

Compensation:

  • Employment structure: Freelance, with a combination of base compensation and performance-based incentives.
  • Base earnings: Competitive hourly or equivalent freelance compensation structure.
  • Variable earnings: Uncapped performance-based incentives tied to new merchant partnerships and attainment of sales targets.
  • Expenses: Eligible business travel and field expenses reimbursed in accordance with company policy.

About You:

  • Experience: 2+ years in a closing sales role, preferably B2B and selling into SMBs (restaurant, hospitality, foodservice, or related industries a plus).
  • Field Sales Mindset: Comfortable spending a significant portion of your time in the field meeting merchants in person.
  • Proven Closer: Demonstrated track record of meeting or exceeding sales quotas in a transactional or mid-cycle environment.
  • Pipeline Discipline: Strong skills in prospecting, qualifying, and managing opportunities through every stage of the funnel.
  • Communication: Clear, persuasive communicator able to tailor your pitch to different business models and decision makers.
  • Self-Starter: Highly organized, proactive, and comfortable working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Local Knowledge: Familiarity with the Jackson, MS area and surrounding communities is strongly preferred.
  • Logistics: Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and the ability to travel within the assigned territory, including occasional overnights.
