Outside Sales Representative – Emerging Markets (SC)

We are partnering with a fast-growing technology company in the on-demand logistics and delivery industry to hire a freelance Outside Sales Representative focused on emerging markets in and around Greenville, SC. In this role, you will drive new business acquisition among local restaurants and food-service merchants, with a special emphasis on rural and under-served communities.

You will manage a high-volume, transactional sales cycle and build partnerships with independent and regional restaurants that are critical to the company’s regional growth strategy. This is a fully field-based, face-to-face role that blends independent territory ownership with close collaboration with a Regional Sales Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prospect, qualify, and close new restaurant and food-service partnerships within your assigned territory, focusing on small and mid-sized businesses.

  • Conduct in-person visits and meetings with restaurant owners and decision-makers to present the platform, demonstrate value, and secure partnerships.

  • Manage a fast-paced, transactional sales cycle, progressing prospects from first contact to close within days where possible.

  • Develop and execute a local territory plan, including identifying priority neighborhoods, building target lists, and maintaining a high cadence of outreach.

  • Use sales enablement tools and marketing collateral to support conversations, address objections, and accelerate decision-making.

  • Negotiate partnership terms that balance merchant needs with company objectives.

  • Accurately track pipeline, activity, and performance metrics in CRM and reporting tools.

  • Collect and share merchant feedback and market insights to inform regional go-to-market strategies and refine sales playbooks.

  • Adhere to all travel, expense, and field operations policies while representing the company professionally in the market.

Travel & Territory Expectations:

  • Regular travel within the broader Greenville, SC area and surrounding markets, with most destinations within approximately 2 hours’ drive.

  • Occasional longer driving days, overnight stays, or regional trips as territory needs dictate.

  • Ability to spend the majority of your time in the field meeting prospects and customers face-to-face.

Compensation:

  • Freelance engagement with a fixed hourly base pay structure.

  • Performance-based commission for each new merchant partnership closed.

  • Uncapped earning potential tied directly to sales results; details of commission structure will be provided during the interview process.

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of proven experience in a closing sales role, ideally selling to small and medium-sized businesses.

  • Background in restaurant, food & beverage, hospitality, or local services sales is highly preferred.

  • Residence within a commutable distance (approximately 40 minutes) of Greenville, SC, with the ability to work primarily in the field.

  • Comfort with frequent travel within the territory, including occasional overnight trips.

  • Demonstrated success using a mix of sales tactics (cold calling, walk-ins, door-to-door outreach, phone, email, and text follow-up).

  • Entrepreneurial mindset and comfort operating in less-structured, emerging markets, including building your own routes and repeatable sales motions.

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills, with the ability to quickly build rapport with independent business owners.

  • Highly self-motivated, organized, and disciplined, with strong time and territory management skills.
